I've been wondering the same thing. I'm only 5'9" but I decided to repad and reshape my seat also. It improved my back aching a little but my butt goes numb after about 30 minutes of riding. Thought about a gel seat. I tried drag bars for a short time before I changed the seat and noticed some improvement. I took them off after about a week. I did't think about getting taller risers so the handles would'nt hit the tank. Duh! They were also made for a Harley and had the holes for the wiring which put the switches in the place in order to avoid the holes. Also stripped out a screw on the right switch housing. Found JB Weld cheaper than the $160+ fisher-price plastic switch housing. Anyway, to make an already long story not any longer...I think that a drag bar with proper risers and made for a metric cruiser (no holes or dimples) or a wider, lower bar would bring you more forward. Now if there was a way to bring the foot pegs and controls further back and straight down like a standard, we'd be in bidness. We could put some of the pressure on the pegs to evenly distribute the weight. That would also be nice for lifting the old tush of the seat for those sneaky little pot holes that you can't avoid or don't see until the last minute(Michigan roads especially). Other options... get a Sportster or a Goldwing.
